Aref Ahmadia, the owner of the West End Cafe , San Rafael is hosting a fundraiser for his Libraries for Peace Project. The Honorable Lynn Woolsey will be speaking plus other speakers who are experts on the Middle East will also discuss the current situation in the Middle East. Also included, a Five minute documentary plus a photo exposition, along with ample servings of great thematic food and refreshments. Please join us in supporting this project.

The film is based on Norman Solomon's book, War Made Easy, and is narrated by Sean Penn. This film is a well-documented, reasoned and emotional condemnation of America's foreign war policy. The bipartisan view shown in this film demonstrates how much bigger the problem is than which party wins the next election. President Bush steals lines from President Johnson!
Invite your friends who are not sure where to stand on the Iraq war. As An Inconvenient Truth presented an irrefutable call for environmental action, War Made Easy presents an irrefutable call to stop US imperial misadventures.
The film ends with a recording taken from Martin Luther King's speech in 1968 and scenes from Vietnam and Iraq intermixed. Some quotes from that speech:
" A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual death … I speak as one who loves America, to the leaders of our own nation: The great initiative in this war is ours: the initiative to stop it must be ours."

Posada Carriles – the film
New Film Documentary Showing in Marin
Posada Carriles: Terrorism Made in USA documents the terrorist path of Posada Carriles, including the 1976 bombing of the Cubana airliner and his longstanding relationship with the CIA. The demand for justice for the survivors and those who lost family members because of Posada Carriles' actions comes to life on the screen to remind us all that terrorism cannot be justified under any circumstances. George W. Bush himself said, "Those that harbor terrorists, are also terrorists."
Introducing the film will be Gloria La Riva, Coordinator of the National Committee to Free the Cuban Five and leading organizer in the campaign for Posada's extradition from the comforts of life in Miami to face trial in Venezuela.
The film will be shown on Friday, August 17, 7:30 PM at The Redwoods Presbyterian Church, 110 Magnolia Avenue, Larkspur. A $5-10 donation is requested. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. The Point Reyes Green Home Tour
It will be a rare chance to view Point Reyes area homes built with green practices and materials, such as passive solar construction, solar electricity, affordable use of green and recycled materials, and green second units. The event starts at the Dance Palace in Point Reyes Station with remarks by Supervisor Steve Kinsey, a presentation on green building in West Marin by architect Jim Campe, a display of green building resources, and a light lunch. The guided tour of four homes, two each in Inverness and Point Reyes Station, leaves promptly from the Dance Palace at noon and concludes there at 4:00 with Straus ice cream.
Tickets are $40, include lunch, and should be purchased by August 20 to secure a seat. Tickets are available at Point Reyes Books, the CLAM table at the Point Reyes Farmers Market, or by mail: send check with name, address, e-mail/phone to CLAM, P.O. As you may know, a grassroots effort here in Marin County, called Dear Sudan, Love Marin, has been actively raising consciousness about the genocide in Darfur for the past two years. Unfortunately, the
violence, rapes and death continue in Darfur, thus calling upon us to persevere.
